Club raises £1200 for Macmillan

Regulars at a family-run Holiday Park have raised £1200 for charity at their annual fishing competition.

John and Lynne Tennant have been running the events at Snettisham Holiday Park - owned by The Family Parks Group - for 15 years.

During that time, they have raised thousands of pounds for different charities.

This year, the money raised will be going to MacMillan Cancer Support.

There are normally two events each year but they have only been able to arrange one in 2023 due to tide times.

Lynne said: "We holiday at Snettisham Holiday Park for most of the season, and it's a great pleasure organising these fishing events with locals, day trippers and people who also holiday here.

"We have also organised a BBQ, tombola and a few stalls so it was a real fun occasion for everyone.

"We have also organised quizzes and charity head shaves in the past."

Fishing was from 2pm until 5pm, and Simon Anderson won the match with a Dover sole and three sea eels.

All the other entrants who caught a fish were presented with a bottle of wine by John Tennant.

The high tide was at 3pm and the window is limited because the sea there is flat and shallow.

The money raised will be presented to MacMillan Cancer Support at an end of year gala.

Donna Bull from The Family Parks Group said: "We want to thank John, Lynne and everyone who took part and helped us raise such an impressive amount of money.

"The Family Parks group purchased the park last November, and we are committed to supporting the local community and helping such good causes.

"We are lucky there that we have direct access to the beach. That's part of what makes our park such an attractive venue.

"The park provides the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life, and the RSPB reserves are just a stone's throw away.

"It's like taking a journey back in time."
