Climate Crisis: new film to be shown in King's Lynn

Organisers behind the film, fronted by Chris Packam, say, 'it brings facts about climate change and nature loss to towns and cities across the UK'

Dubbed the “People’s Emergency Briefing” the community screenings aim to bring constituents, civic leaders and MPs together to hear the evidence, and consider what an emergency response should look like.

The 50-minute film is fronted by naturalist and broadcaster Chris Packham, who says, “It creates exactly the kind of honest local conversation we now urgently need, both about what these changes mean where we live, and about what we can do together to address them.”

It sets out what the science says about how a changing climate and declining nature are already affecting British life - from rising food prices and human health to national security – and what can be done about it.

It'll be shown in King's Lynn at Majestic Cinema on 15th April, although tickets have already sold out.

Organisers say the aim is simple: 'to make vital information accessible in every constituency, in a format that is clear, human and watchable', adding that it's, 'specifically for communities to watch together, with their MP present, followed by a facilitated discussion'.

Robert Shippey, member of Extinction Rebellion in King's Lynn, adds, "The screening provides an important opportunity for people to hear directly from experts about what the UK faces from climate change.

"But importantly an opportunity for locals to get together and talk about ways to tackle the problem collectively. I hope people will want to take part in discussing the future for us all."
