The Queen’s Jubilee is the theme for the event.
After an absence of 4 years, the Hunstanton Carnival will, once again, be parading through the streets of Hunstanton on Sunday June 26th 2022.
This is the enterprise of a small group of people teaming up together to form the Hunstanton Events Committee, coming under the umbrella of Hunstanton Town Council, and made up of members of Hunstanton Town Council, The Rotary, The Lions, Hunstanton District Festival of Arts and the Round Table.
The parade will start at the Recreation Ground where the floats will be judged, before leaving at 1.00 pm when the parade will make its way down to the Lower Green, to join the various stalls, music and entertainment, which will be open from 11 am until 5 pm. Once the parade is gathered on The Green, the presentation of the awards for the best floats will be announced.
To make this a truly spectacular event and to ensure the success of the carnival, the events team is asking people to come forward to take part in the parade which can be either on a float, walking, driving or cycling. The more that participate in the parade the better and the more exciting it will be. Categories for the parade are Youth Groups, Social & Charity Groups, Fancy Dress, Trade & Business and Cars & Bikes; something for everyone.
The team would like to see the whole town involved and would like to invite all local businesses to be part of and support this by giving donations and in return have their businesses promoted in the brochure / programme.
The carnival is just one of many things that are being staged throughout June for the Jubilee.
To start the ball rolling there will be a Music Festival on The Green on Thursday 2nd June organised by the Hunstanton & District Festival of Arts, followed later that evening by the lighting of the beacon.
Friday 3rd June brings a full day of events and entertainment in the Town Hall commencing with a Vintage Tea Party, a Royal Quiz and a 40s & 50s Tea Dance/Singalong.
Saturday 4th June 7.30 pm, Hunstanton Town Council is proud to be welcoming John Harris with his production of ‘The Queens Platinum Jubilee Gala’ event at the Town Hall.
If you would like to be involved in any of the above events, the Carnival Parade, have a stall on The Green, provide entertainment, are able to assist voluntarily on the day, or support it with a financial donation please contact the Town Clerk, Jan Roomes: Tel 01485 532402 or email clerk@hunstantontowncouncil.gov.uk
