Staff at Norfolk Lodge Care Home to take part in charity skydive
“Rather them than me,” jokes care home resident Kathleen. “I think it’s very brave of them, it’s good of them to do it, charities always need more money.”
Staff at the home in Hunstanton will be doing a skydive on August the 23rd to raise money for Alzheimer's Research UK. Nusrat, who’s one of them, says, “I’m really excited and of course a little scared, it’s something I thought I’d never do but I want to help raise some money.”

Nusrat goes on to tell me it's for a cause that's close to her heart, “As a carer I’ve seen the emotional and physical toll this illness takes, not just on those living with Alzheimer’s, but on their loved ones too. Every second of this jump is dedicated to them.”
Manager Leah Liboyi will be joining them, who’s done a few skydives before, “I’ll be there to support them if they feel worried, hold their hand if they need it!”
“This is more than just a charity skydive,” she continues, “We have a passion for raising awareness for dementia, because we see all the families and the struggle they go through - and it’s heartbreaking.”

Rimal, Ajin, Aneesh, Leah, Nusrat and Colin - the 6 braving the skies!
As Leah shows me out she stops to chat to Mary, a daughter of one of the residents. I ask what she thinks about the fundraiser, “Wonderful," she replies, "Good luck to them all and where can we sponsor?” If you're thinking the same, then here's the link.

And before I leave Kathleen says she has some advice, “Keep your eyes shut and happy landings!” She laughs. Good luck to the team!
