Big weekend for seaside town

Hunstanton has much to offer residents and visitors this weekend.

Opening a weekend of brilliant entertainment on Friday 4th July is the One Act Drama Festival at the Princess Theatre.

Festival Director Verity Mitchell said: "We have a smorgasbord of delights for this year’s Drama Festival! Not only will you be enjoying some wonderful performances from our local theatre groups, all in competition with each other to win the much-coveted silver trophies, but also this year we will be treating you to a couple of special ‘showcase’ performances over the course of the weekend.

Our first showcase performance will open the Festival on Friday evening, so sit back and enjoy ‘The Adjudication’ from the very newly-formed Up Themselves Theatre Company, before we get on with the real business of competition with our amateur groups.

This year’s Festival promises to be an exciting weekend with a few surprises along the way, the first of which is our very special guest who will be joining us to open the event and say a few encouraging words to our groups. So if you’ve bought a season ticket (just £20 for ALL performances), make sure you have Friday evening in your diary!

A serious note now….the Hunstanton One-Act Drama Festival is a not-for-profit event and we are all about community and bringing people together. Without the support of the Princess Theatre, you - our enthusiastic audience - and our programme advertisers, we wouldn’t be here at all.

So please tell your friends, family and neighbours to come and support the event. Just £7.50 will buy you a matinée or evening of light entertainment and an insight into the world of live theatre, or for a mere £20, you can come to as many of the four sessions as you like as well as the prestigious awards ceremony on Sunday evening.

For one day only, Hunstanton welcomes the Wild West on Saturday 5th when KL1 Radio and its sister station KL Country are bringing live country music to West Norfolk with the first ever Wild West Norfolk Festival.

This one-day country music bonanza will see eleven live bands over two stages leading up to the headliners, Country Chicks on stage at Glebe House School (PE36 6HW)

The country music sector has seen a huge renaissance across the world with mainstream acts adopting this genre to sell vast quantities of music product, memorabilia and of course sell out concerts, we also saw Beyoncé win album of the year at the 2025 Grammys with Cowboy Carter and Chappell Roan winning the best new artist gong.

The Wild West Norfolk Festival is in association with Hunstanton & District Rotary who will benefit from profits from the event and is being staged by kind permission of Glebe House School in Hunstanton.
Alongside the music performances there will be a line dancing marquee, a trading post selling all things country plus a wide array of food and drink to suit all tastes. Both radio stations will carry live coverage of the event on the day.

Richard Dix, Programme Controller of KL1 Radio and KL Country commented, “heading into our fifth year of bringing truly local radio to West Norfolk along side attending many outdoor events we wanted to create one or two live events of our own that cater for our audience across both radio stations plus working alongside Rotary on this first event means we can help to raise money for the causes supported by them”

Along Hunstanton Promenade you'll find Hunstanton Ski Cafe (PE36 5BA) where enjoy a drink and a bite to eat whilst listening to live music
