Barclays Bank to close its Hunstanton branch

Barclays Bank to close its Hunstanton branch

Customers of Barclays have been told that the branch in Hunstanton will close on 12th April.

Rumours around Hunstanton that Barclays would close soon were confirmed this morning as letters to customers dropped through the letterbox.

The news comes four years after the Nat West branch closed, so from April there will be no bank in the Market Town.

The company says that fewer customers are using the branch as they are choosing to bank differently these days. They go on to say that they are finalising details of where and when they will be based to support customers in the future.

Customers wishing to visit a Barclays branch will have the choice of High Street King's Lynn which is sixteen and a half miles from the Hunstanton branch or Market Place Fakenham at nineteen and a half miles away. The bank also points customers to Post Offices who offer limited banking services.

Alternative cash machines are available at the Nationwide Building Society on Greevegate and Boots in the High Street.

Barclays said: "The decision to close a branch is never easy and we appreciate this might not be welcome news."

Initial reactions from the public on social media have been negative and calls are being made for some other proper banking facility.
