Dave Kelly and Paul Jones, founding members of The Blues Band, to perform in Hunstanton
Paul Jones, who'll be performing at the Princess Theatre this weekend, tells me the venue is ‘a favourite’.
The musician started his career as the lead singer of Manfred Mann, with 60’s hits including, “Do Wah Diddy Diddy,” and “Pretty Flamingo”.
On Sunday (22nd) he'll be on stage alongside guitarist Dave Kelly, the pair among the founding members of The Blues Band, which formed in 1979 (until 2022).
“I haven’t performed there with Dave yet, but I’ve played there several times with the Manfreds, my former bandmates from Manfred Mann, and actually it’s a favourite venue, we love it.
“When we talk about the atmosphere at a live gig, make no mistake it does vary a lot!”
The 'Acoustic Duo' gigs are described as ‘timeless’, the pair performing their own material, as well as tracks from John Lee Hooker through to Sonny Boy Williamson.

“Dave and I have both worked with some wonderful American Blues men, the real thing, as it were, we’ve got lost of anecdotes of people that we have worked with or who have influenced us.
“We talk more when it’s just Dave and me, there’s always a story about why you’re doing the song you’re about to - who wrote it, when you wrote it and why.”
Paul also says praises this part of Norfolk, and says he's looking forward to being back.
“Very much so yes, apart from anything else Norfolk is a very special part of the country and I’ve tried to spend a lot of time there whenever I can, so just being there is amazing. But I’ve always enjoyed playing at the Princess Theatre.
“I do love live audiences, because they respond,” he laughs, “The atmosphere is the thing, and I’ve always enjoyed it - since even before I ever got into a band.”
The Theatre says, "A live acoustic set by this dynamic duo is an occasion you’ll remember. If you’re a true Blues fan, everything you need is here."
