Phobbies Club provides activities for adults with a range of disabilities and says any help would be 'greatly appreciated'.
Phobbies, which meets weekly at Dersingham social club, is entirely run by volunteers. For decades it's been providing a variety of activities like painting, drawing, model making, knitting and rug making - as well as being a social space for people to talk with each other.
Maggie Ponder, chair of the club’s organising committee says, “It has a fantastic group of members who help with the different activities, but it would be wonderful to have more help. No regular commitment is needed; we have volunteers who come most weeks and some who come a few times a year for specific activities. Although most of our members come from Dersingham, we have some from Snettisham, Ingoldisthorpe and even Kings Lynn."

40th birthday celebrations in June
After a short summer break it'll start again on the 4th of September.
Maggie adds, "We love listening to music and singing along, so if you play an instrument and could come and play for an hour or so once or twice a year, that would be really appreciated. Or if you have some administrative skills and can help the club for 2 or 3 hours a month, this would help enormously. You may have some crafting skills and could lead an activity for a couple of sessions, or just share your enjoyment of crafting with the club. Most weeks a group of members play cards and other games and they are keen to have more players to join them."
Phobbies meets every Thursday from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm at Dersingham sports and social club, Lynn Road. Weekly subscription is £2; tea, coffee and biscuits are provided for free. Anyone interested in joining or volunteering can drop in on a Thursday or contact Maggie Ponder tel. 07967 799816 or email m.ponder@btopenworld.com
