What a treat it was to be invited to the dress rehearsal of Mother Goose at the Princess Theatre on Tuesday.
And what a treat the pantomime turned out to be, full of songs, laughter, bright and jolly costumes and of course a story with a happy ending.
Resident Dame for the last few years Mervyn Francis takes on the role of Mother Goose (the goose herself is called Priscilla) a poor woman who befriends a magical goose that provides her with golden eggs.
She becomes rich, but there is something she wants more than money - she wants to be young and beautiful and as a result she loses Priscilla.
The story twists and turns, and Mother Goose ends up in the Goose Court in Gooseland to plead for Priscilla, of course she gets her back and all ends happily ever after.
With a cast of seven Princess Panto regulars can still expect the same Crackin’ costumes, egg-straordinary scenery and plenty of funny yokes.
