80s-themed Theatre Project Set at Hunstanton Leisure Centre Want Local People Involved
Creative Arts East & Dante or Die collaborate on a innovative and exciting project in Hunstanton!

A unique 80s-themed theatre project set in Alive Oasis Leisure Centre in Hunstanton is about to begin, and the delivery partners behind it want members of the community to get involved!

TAKE ON ME is a new show by innovative theatre company Dante or Die, in partnership with arts and community charity Creative Arts East. It’s set in the 1980s world of headbands and legwarmers, and the story will lead the audience through the leisure centre changing rooms and an aerobics class, ending at the swimming pool. Live musicians will belt out new versions of classic 80s hits such as Faith, Love Will Tear Us Apart, and of course Take On Me.

The aim of the project is to involve members of the local community, and the team behind it are looking for participants to play some of the key roles, participants to take part in an aerobics workout featured in the shows, and people to help backstage with hair, make-up, costumes and technical. There are voluntary roles to suit everyone – no prior experience is necessary. The rehearsal and performance week is Tuesday 20th November to Sunday 25th November, with times to be arranged around the availability of those taking part. The only requirements are that participants are over 16.

There will be drop-in information sessions during the week commencing 1st October in the Alive Oasis café, for potential participants to ask any questions and register their interest. There will also be aerobics, dance and drama workshops that week where people can come along to try out the roles and routines being performed in the show.

Info sessions at Alive Oasis cafe: 1st October 6-8pm, 2nd October 10am-12pm, 4th October 2-4pm

Workshops at Alive Oasis Leisure Centre: Dance/aerobic workshop on 3rd October 12-1pm (location TBC), drama workshop on 4th October 6-8pm (squash court), drama workshop on 5th October 2-4pm (aerobics studio).
