15 years on...
Today we are delivering our 180th issue having published a magazine every month since the autumn of 2005.
This year we have all felt the devastating effects of the coronavirus pandemic on our families and communities. The effects of lockdown and resulting disruption to businesses will take some time to quantify but in the meantime we wanted to tell you how we, at Town and Around, are making changes to the way we operate.
Deliveries in the Hunstantons
Our volunteer delivery team, some of whom have been with us since the beginning, have been out in all weathers and it is essential that we thank them publicly for all their effort over the years. Recently the delivery of magazines has been made difficult for a myriad of reasons, not least the worry of catching coronavirus by meeting up with people in the street and touching metal letterboxes together with other objects that have been cited as potential risks to health, plus some of the team have had to isolate for long periods.
Due to the situation apparently now developing into a second phase and with the threat of yet another lockdown before this year is out, we have taken the decision to suspend door-to-door deliveries from the November 2020 edition. We feel that we just cannot be responsible for the lives and welfare of our volunteers under the current circumstances.
Pick up points & subscriptions
The good news is that we will be continuing to produce the magazine and distributing it each month through our well-established outlets around the area. Additionally, we have taken space in Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Co-op via their preferred supplier and with Lidl directly.
Copies will be available, as they are now, just before the end of the month and if you are not sure about where you can get your copy, please call us on 01485 540620 or e mail firstname.lastname@example.org and we will tell you where your nearest pick up point is.
If you would prefer to have your copy delivered to your door each month, we do offer a subscription service. the cost is £20 per year for post and packing (there is no VAT), and details of how to order are in the advert above. Our postal address is 18 Tapping Close, Snettisham, PE31 7FF.
Town and Around has a good kitchen-table life, often remaining in readers’ homes for a month or more and being referred to throughout that period. We have taken this opportunity to review the tactile appeal and appearance of the paper we use. This month is the first issue with a new paper that is heavier, whiter, silkier to the touch and importantly, still recycled. It should be more resilient to extended wear and tear!

Transparency about advertising costs is important to us. T&A charges exactly the same price to everyone for their adverts (it just appeals to our sense of fairness) and we publish the cost on page 2 of every edition. We have continued to produce a magazine throughout the pandemic keeping our advertisers in front of their audience and supporting them with editorial features. Please support them if you can.
Thank you all for being part of the T&A story - advertisers, contributors and readers.
